I too was not sure if this band would do it for me - heard some great reports from my brother when he saw them in Florida, but when tix went on sale for the Mann, I kinda let it pass - But at the 11th hour, a friend came through with a couple of extras, so off we went - Let me say first and foremost, these guys still play the hell out of the music. The jams were taken in very unique and interesting spaces -I liked the single drummer, quite the Molo type monster. I was surprised to see two extra back-up singers, and they gave the vocals a fuller and different sound - not too shabby. The setlist rocked, except for Weir and his "vocal styling" on Days Between (his unique delivery works well on tunes like Desolation Row, but not on a tune like Days Between, which needs to be actually sung)-Overall, very surprised and impressed by these guys - no, it's not the Grateful Dead, but it is Grateful Dead music, which deserves and demands to be played and heard - my only real complaint was the hassle my friends and I got near the beer tent on the lawn by Mann Center "security" who hassled us for supposedly smokin' up, threatening to "escort us out", then one of them told me to give him money to let us stay...WTF?? What kind of shakedown extortion is this? Did this happen to anyone else? I'm sure the Mann Center would be very interested in what their "security" people are doing.

I guess you were there Saturday. I'm surprised to hear that about Mann security, you should report them.

LOL, isn't it obvious? Security folks were taking bribes.
